The Contemporáneos Educational Program is Mercado Caribeño's initiative aimed at youths from disadvantaged communities firmly based on our art fair's commitment of making art and cultural activity accessible to all - regardless of social status - as established by Article 15 of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (UNESCO).

Its inaugural event - an exclusive tour of the fair's galleries and special projects, along with an art workshop and a panel discussion with some of Puerto Rico's most influential voices in the arts and culture sector - had a turnout of over 100 students, teachers, and caretakers from five municipalities and 25 schools and universities from all over Puerto Rico. The Program will resume in 2018 with a series of visits to various educational institutions around the Island's metropolitan area, where the students will have the unique opportunity to coordinate and produce an on-site discussion featuring renowned Puerto Rican artists, curators, and cultural workers addressing a range of relevant themes (or topics) currently explored through Contemporary art practices. Each discussion will be recorded and published later on as episodes on the art and culture podcast, "Ahora Podemos Hablart".

This program is made possible through a partnership with Inversión Cultural, Foundation for Puerto Rico, and the generous sponsorship of Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico.
